The 3-piece Theatre Kit is a simple X10 starter kit
designed to get you started with X10 Home Automation. The kit contains a
Universal 8-in-1 remote control unit, an RF Transceiver Interface (to
enable the remote to send X10 signals) and a plug-in Lamp Receiver
module. The 8-in-1 remote in conjunction with the RF Transceiver
Interface can also control any of our other X10/A-10 Receivers.
How it
works
The 8–in–1 remote control works just like the remote
control units you’re used to. It replaces up to 7 existing remotes, and
is programmed to send the correct commands simply by entering in a
three–digit code from a manufacturer list provided. Furthermore, it can
control anything with infrared reception, like air–conditioners and
ceiling fans, by learning individual buttons from existing remotes. The
remote also allows you to have control over your X10 lights and
appliances from anywhere in the home or office.
When operating X10, the 8-in-1 remote sends RF
(radio frequency) signals to the RF Transceiver Interface, which in turn
sends the X10 commands through the electrical wiring to your X10
Receivers. A plug-in Lamp Receiver module is included within this kit.
The RF signals from the remote work through walls and floors, so you do
not need to be in the same room as the RF Transceiver Interface.
Using the X10 function, you can control your home
theatre system including DVD player and LCD television, but you also
have control of the lounge room lighting, including dim/bright
functions. In conjunction with a programmable Interface Computer
Interface), you can also use the remote to trigger macros and scenarios,
so that one button press performs a multitude of tasks. The only problem
you may have is that your friends will want to spend more time playing
with the features of the Home Theatre Kit than watching a movie.
The Lamp Module included within the Theatre Kit lets
you switch and dim any incandescent lamp up to 300W, whilst the plug–in
RF Transceiver Interface also doubles as an Appliance Receiver module
and lets you control plug-in appliance up to 10 Amps.
