Most X10 components
are suitable for Do-It-Yourself installation, but a few
require direct connection to mains wiring. Installation of
such items must always be carried out in accordance with the
requirements of the relevant regulations and might
require the services of a registered electrician.
The items that are
suitable for DIY installation are those that do not require
tools for connection (i.e. they are installed by plugging
in).
X10 components come
supplied with full instructions and are easy to set up. A
small amount of technical inclination usually helps. If you
