Here are
some of the things that the Smart Interface Module can do:

Alert you that there’s someone at the door if you’re in the middle
of something noisy, such as playing computer games, using power
tools or vacuuming.

Turn
on lights and audio systems when you enter a door.

Let
you know when an outside light or garage door is activated.

Flash additional lights when your alarm system is activated.
How it
works
The Smart Interface Module sends an X10 signal to
receiver devices when a contact closure is made or a low voltage is
applied to its terminals. Then, depending on how it has been programmed,
it triggers an All Lights On signal, a flashing All Lights On/All Off
signal, or an On/Off signal only to a particular device.
